Toshiba And Rambus Sign Patent License Agreement

Los Altos, California - Rambus Inc. (Nasdaq:RMBS), one of the world's premier technology licensing companies specializing in high-speed chip interfaces, announced today it has signed a new patent license agreement with Toshiba Corporation. This agreement grants Toshiba a license to Rambus patents for SDRAM and DDR SDRAM memory controllers.

"Toshiba was our first patent licensee and we are pleased to continue this long and valuable relationship with a trusted partner," said Sharon Holt, senior vice president of Sales, Licensing and Marketing at Rambus. “Our focus of licensing industry-leading companies with both our products and patents continues to help push the boundaries of what our collective engineering teams can accomplish. There is a time limit on patent protection.

For applications filed on or after June 8, 1995, utility and plant patents are granted for a term which begins with the date of the grant and usually ends 20 years from the date you first applied for the patent subject to the payment of appropriate maintenance fees. Design patents last 14 years from the date you are granted the patent. Note: Patents in force on June 8 and patents issued thereafter on applications filed prior to June 8, 1995 automatically have a term that is the greater of the twenty year term discussed above or seventeen years from the patent grant.
